I can’t believe July is already over! Sometimes it’s like you blink and a month is gone. The “Best of July” post is a recap of all the recipes I have cooked, favorites and what I have been up to in the month of July.
But before we get into that, I hope you all have been keeping well and enjoying the summer. Perhaps travelled somewhere, done something exciting, discovered a new place, made a new friend or tried a new recipe? If so, I would love to hear all about it in the comments section.
July was a good month for us in many ways. First off, it marks the official launch of my blog – Lace and Coco! My creative designer and I had worked hard in the past couple of months trying to get everything ready. It took longer to complete than I anticipated but that’s because we wanted every element of the blog to be perfect. Now I’m very happy for what we have accomplished and It feels so good to have it all ready and operational from the beginning of July.
Throughout the last month, I’ve been also busy with developing and cooking delicious recipes, taking beautiful photos of the food I made and sharing them with you ♥
We also celebrated our first wedding anniversary this July. Yaaay!!!
I feel so lucky to be married to the most kind and loving man and not a day goes by where I don’t find myself taking a step back and feeling so grateful to have this caring man as my husband! Married for One year but I can’t wait for a million more!
It is so amazing to look back on our wedding photos! Our wedding was a fairytale come true and it is something we will never forget! Here are some pictures that I like to share ♥

For our anniversary, my husband surprised me with a beautiful red rose bouquet. My first idea was to take a picture of the bouquet but then I thought better of it. I used one of the roses as a backdrop and placed our wedding rings on top of a rose and took this picture! beautiful isn’t it?
Here is a recap of all the delicious recipes of July!
Of all these yumminess I have to say my favorites were the Stuffed Cabbage Rolls in Tomato Sauce , Kale Health Smoothie, Lentil and Spinach Soup with Leeks and Potatoes, Refreshing Watermelon Juice and Eggplant Boats Stuffed with Quinoa and Mushrooms. And I am very pleased with how the pictures for “Herbs and Spices” post turned out ♥
What about you? Which recipes did you get to try last month? Which was your favorite recipe of July? Share it in the comments! I would love to hear about it!
I read “Bourne Enigma” by Eric van Lustbader which I truly enjoyed reading it. If you are into Jason Bourne series of books, then this is a must read book for you!
For those who are new to this subject, Bourne is a fictional character of a long series of novels that are written by Robert Ludlum, and continued by Eric Von Lustbader. The books turned into successful movies starring Matt Damon as Jason Bourne. As always, I personally like reading a book before seeing the movie. For me it enhances my movie experience and helps me making sense of what I’m about to see.
How about you? Do you like reading the book before or after seeing the movie?
In case you are interested, below are all Bourne books in order:
|The Bourne Identity||(1980)|
|The Bourne Supremacy||(1986)|
|The Bourne Ultimatum||(1990)|
|The Bourne Legacy||(2004)|
|The Bourne Betrayal||(2007)|
|The Bourne Sanction||(2008)|
|The Bourne Deception||(2009)|
|The Bourne Objective||(2010)|
|The Bourne Dominion||(2011)|
|The Bourne Imperative||(2012)|
|The Bourne Retribution||(2013)|
|The Bourne Ascendancy||(2014)|
|The Bourne Enigma||(2016)|
My husband and I love watching movies in style! We always book our seats in the Platinum Suites of Reel cinemas at Dubai Mall which is a smaller more private cinema with large comfortable reclining seats and of course a pillow and a blanket to keep warm and cozy during the movie. Also, you get to order drinks and food with personal butler service before and during the movie. We couldn’t wish for a better place to watch movies!
We watched “Now you see me 2”. For me the first “Now You See Me” was a pleasant surprise and a mix of fun, style, humor and a memorable action thriller. So naturally, I was excited to see the second one, but in my humble opinion, the movie was not as fun as the first one, however it was still entertaining enough to be in my “July Favorites” list. If you take it for what it is, you will find enjoyment in watching this movie.
We also watched “Me Before You”. It is a romantic movie adapted from the bestselling novel by Jojo Moyes. What a magnificent and endearing performance by Emilia Clarke playing the role of a contented small town Englishwoman who is hired as a caretaker for a paralyzed wealthy Londoner (Sam Clafin). I truly enjoyed watching this movie from the start to finish and I must confess that I haven’t cried in the cinema as much as I did during this movie in a long, long time. Please don’t hold that against me! I am a romantic at heart 🙂
And finally, We watched “Jason Bourne” movie couple of days ago! If you like Bourne movies then you will like this one too! It’s an electrifying action movie from start to finish and once again delivers the kind of thrills we have come to expect and love.
Quote of the month – August
“Life is like a camera, just focus on what’s important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.”
Let’s give a warm welcome to August and see you back soon for a new recipe!
